After over 10 years in the saddle as a professional jockey Sam Thomas has turned his attention to training, and is now based at the Grade II listed Saxon House Stables in Lambourn. The historic yard, former base of the legendary Fulke Walwyn, is one of the most well regarded in the area, with the best facilities in the country right on its doorstep.
During his career, Sam rode over 500 winners, including some of the best horses in the country in the shape of Kauto Star, Big Bucks, What A Friend, Twist Magic and of course Denman who he rode to victory in the 2007 Hennessey Gold Cup and the 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup. He has also worked with many of the country's leading National Hunt trainers - providing him with exceptional experience within the industry which will be influential in his new venture as a trainer.
It is this experience and knowledge which has given him the confidence to combine his own ideas alongside tried and tested training techniques learned through his past.
Please get in touch if you have any questions about the yard or ownership with Sam Thomas Racing.
