2020 Colt by Michigan (USA) ex Crystal Blade (GB)

A strong and athletic yearling colt is offered for sale. He is the first foal out of a Casamento mare that hails from a fine family and is by the well-related young stallion Michigan.

The dam Crystal Blade ran a handful of times on the flat as a three-year-old, though her undoubted potential as a broodmare derives from her eyecatching pedigree rather than from her racing record.

She is out of the Dubawi mare Weood, who made €70,000 when offered at Goffs as a foal, and is therefore a half-sister to Dubai In Bloom, who won a mile maiden as a three-year-old from just two starts.

Weood's dam Fawaayid was a dual Listed winner, prior to producing eight winners as a broodmare, including the Listed scorer Green Lady and the stakes-placed Entisar.

Fawaayid's numerous daughters went on to collective breeding success and as a result her further descendants include the triple Grp-2 winning and Grp-1 placed Balthazar's Gift and the Listed-winner Fashion Queen.

The covering sire Michigan is also the possessor of a high-class pedigree. He ran just a handful of times on the track, but earned his place at stud by virtue of his numerous talented near-relations. A son of the breed-shaping Galileo, Michigan's second dam Volga was an exceptional racemare who won five stakes races including the Grade-1 E P Taylor Stakes.
