2020 Colt by Mayson (GB) ex Red Fedora (GB)

An extremely attractive and well-made yearling by Mayson is offered for sale.

He is the first foal out of the Cheveley Park home-bred mare Red Fedora, who was third in a mile maiden at Lingfield on her racecourse debut as a three-year-old but only ran once more subsequently.

Red Fedora, by Lethal Force, is in turn out of the winning two-year-old Red Turban, whose numerous victorious siblings include the Listed winner Red Diadem and the dams of the triple Grp-1 winner Advertise and the Grp-2 Richmond Stakes victor Saayerr.

There are potential updates to the page coming in short order, as Red Fedora's 90+ rated half-sister Red Fascinator remains in trainig with the aim of earning some black-type.

The covering sire Mayson was a stakes-placed two-year-old who progressed to win the Listed Abernant Stakes, Grp-3 Palace House Stakes and Grp-1 July Cup at four. He subsequently retired to Cheveley Park Stud and has developed a fine reputation since his first runners emerged in 2016.

That initial crop featured the stakes-winning two-year-olds Global Applause, Private Matter and Rosie Briar, and a steady stream of black-type performers continued to represent the sire in the seasons that followed. However, his reputation has truly soared in recent months thanks to the exploits of his son Oxted.

A highly progressive performer, Oxted emulated his sire by winning the Palace House and July Cup in 2020 and is unquestionably one of the most exciting sprinters in training. Mayson's progeny have surged in popularity at the sales on the back of this success, realising up to 150,000gns in recent months.
