A superbly bred three-year-old colt by Toronado named Alehandro is offered for sale.
The subject of significant offers from agents last year, Alehandro had initially been targeted at the breeze-ups but swerved that date due to the prevailing uncertainty. However, the accompanying video evidence indicates that he would have wowed onlookers in his breeze.
He can be seen working on the nearside of a six-year-old Showcasing mare rated 105. His work rider, who is based with Charlie Appleby, felt that he could have eased away if asked, and was particularly impressed given that this was Alehandro's first bit of fast work in nine weeks.
Others to have thrown their leg over the colt this year and deliver extremely favourable reports include Frankel's jockey Tom Queally.
Alehandro's dam Rosacara is a daughter of the Listed Galtres Stakes heroine Rambling Rose, and is therefore a half-sister to the triple Grp-1 winner and sire Notnowcato.
Her five winning progeny includes the Grp-2 placed two-year-old Russelliana, whilst her five-year-old Dutch Art gelding After John kept the family in the spotlight by winning over six-furlongs at Redcar in August 2020.
On this occasion Rosacara has been matched with the exciting Toronado.
He won the Grp-2 Champagne Stakes during an unbeaten two-year-old campaign, and he would go on to confirm himself a miler of the highest order by winning the Grp-1 Sussex Stakes at three and the Grp-1 Queen Anne Stakes at four.
His first crop emerged onto racecourses in 2018 and quickly gained many admirers thanks to the stakes performers such as Watan and Revelstoke. However, his reputation truly soared in 2020 thanks to the exploits of the Royal Ascot and Grp-2 winning juvenile Tactical, the 110-rated Grp-3 placed Toro Strike and the Listed-placed sprinter Rocket Action, amongst numerous others.
