A high-quality two-year-old gelding by Hellvelyn out of the Kyllachy mare April's Daughter is offered for sale. He is related to numerous black-type performers and is blessed with excellent conformation and movement.
The sire Hellvelyn is noted for producing fast and smart types, such as the stakes winners/performers Mrs Danvers, La Rioja, Ardenode, Bonnie Grey, Hellofahaste and Hells Babe, plus many other winners in Britain and overseas.
He currently stands at Chapel Stud and appears to be an excellent match for April's Daughter, as one of his best runners to date, the aforementioned Mrs Danvers, is also out of a daughter of Kyllachy. Mrs Danvers won five out of five as a two-year-old, including the lucrative Weatherbys Super Sprint, the Listed St Hugh's Stakes and the Grp-3 Cornwallis Stakes.
April's Daughter was lightly raced on the track but showed a good deal of ability when placed over a mile-and-a-quarter at Windsor and Bath towards the end of her racing career. She possesses excellent breeding credentials as a daughter of the Palace House Stakes, Temple Stakes and Nunthorpe Stakes-winning European Champion Sprinter Kyllachy.
Kyllachy went on to prove himself a high-class stallion, producing fast and consistent progeny such as Sole Power and Dim Sum, to name but two, whilst in addition to Mrs Danvers he is also the broodmare sire of the Grp-1 winner and sire Garswood and the Grp-2 winner Painted Cliffs.
April's Daughter is a half-sister to Stockhill Diva, who won five times including a Class 3 handicap at Windsor, accumulated over £35k in prizemoney and was rated 93 at her peak. Meanwhile, her half-brother Stock Hill Fair registered four victories in total, including at Goodwood and Newmarket, and collected over £30k in earnings.
Their dam April Stock was a six-time winner who won over £77k in prizemoney, and was twice placed behind the subsequent Grp-1 winner and sire Imperial Dancer, most notably when losing out by just a head in a valuable handicap at Glorious Goodwood. She was placed a further 15 times from 34 career starts, with her finest hour coming when landing the prestigious Great Metropolitan Handicap at Epsom under Kieren Fallon.
Although these pedigree details are not the most recent, due to April's Daughter having operated as a riding horse for several years, there is much to like about the breeding and no doubting the quality of the family.
