2019 Colt by Brazen Beau (Aus) ex Jethou Island (GB)

A promising two-year-old colt by Brazen Beau is offered for sale.

He is of the Virtual mare Jethou Island, who won a mile-and-a-quarter handicap on the AW at Chelmsford when in training with David Menuisier. Since having her attentions switched to breeding she has also produced a 2018-foaled Coach House gelding, who made his only start to date in September 2020.

Jethou Island is out of the Beveled mare Lihou Island, who won a valuable nursery at Newmarket before producing three winners as a broodmare. Her other successful progeny are the smart six-time winner Horseradish, who was rated 102 at his peak and ran well in stakes company, and the four-time winner Hot Mustard, who had auctioned for 55,000gns at the yearling stage.

Lihou Island's half-sister Mistress Twister won four races before becoming a black-type producing mare, whilst the page extends back to the stakes-winners Henry's Secret, Drunken Joker and Chairman's Choice.

On this occasion Jethou Island has been matched with the Darley Australia sire Brazen Beau.

A dual Grp-1 winning sprinter and runner-up in the 2015 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, he spent several breeding seasons shuttling between Britain and Australia, and his impact is now being felt in both hemispheres.

In Australia Brazen Beau has made an electric start to his covering career and is responsible for numerous black-type winners, such as the Grp-2 scorers Pretty Brazen and Colada. Meanwhile, he struck with his first runner in Britain in 2019 and in 2020 provided the Grp-3 Chipchase Stakes victor Dubai Station. Such sparkling results have seen the sire's progeny auction for up to £150,000 in British sales rings within the past 12 months.

This colt is the product of a terrific young sire and a mare from a reliable winner-producing family. He has excellent prospects and has been pitched at an extremely competitive pricing level.
