An attractive daughter of the leading NH stallion Scorpion is offered for sale at £4,500 ONO. She stands just under 15”3hh, is a good and athletic mover and was broken in and ridden away in September. She has since been given a break. She is NH MOPS registered.
This May 2016-foaled filly is out of the Beneficial mare Andreas Benefit, who did not see a racetrack but has nonetheless developed into a smart producer.
Her only two runners to date are General Malarkey (a full-brother to the filly for sale), who was placed in a Ffos Las chase on his latest start and can win shortly, and the very smart hurdler Seddon, who is set to embark on a novice chasing career shortly.
A €30,000 purchase at the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale in 2016, Seddon is based with trainer Tom George and won on both his bumper and hurdles debut. He would go on to place three times in Graded-company on his way to finishing an excellent seventh in the Grade-1 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season. He rates a superb chasing prospect.
It is also worth pointing out that Beneficial is an extremely hot property in the broodmare sire ranks at present. His daughters are responsible for star names such as established Grade-1 winners Waiting Patiently, The Worlds End, Quick Grabim and One Track Mind, as well as promising youngsters such as Andy Dufresne and Uhtred.
The extended family on the distaff side is one of genuine quality, featuring the prolific Graded winning chaser The Grey Monk, Grey Abbey and Calgary Bay, whilst Andreas Benefit has young stock by the likes of Stowaway and Workforce waiting to add to the page in the years to come.
The sire Scorpion was a mercurial talent when trained by Aidan O'Brien - good enough to win a St Leger, Coronation Cup and Grand Prix de Paris - and he is passing on an awful lot of ability to his offspring.
His best known progeny to date is of course the King George hero and Gold Cup runner-up Might Bite, but he has produced a host of other Graded-winners such as Tell Us More, Don't Touch It and Derrinross. Crucially, he has been successfully matched with Beneficial mares in the past to produce the winners Tullyglush, De Bene Esse, Dante's Way and Sweet Sting.
This filly has outstanding prospects on paper and the looks to match. Don't miss out at a very competitive price.
The mare has a recently taken CEM swab and is suitable for breeding if the purchaser wishes.
