Dam: CLASSICAL FLAIR
Dam Sire: Distant Music
Hot To Trot was founded in 2010 by bloodstock agent Luke Lillingston and Sam Hoskins with the aim of providing an affordable alternative to Racehorse Ownership at the highest of levels but for an affordable cost. 2017 saw that dream realised when Hot To Trot's flying two-year-old filly Heartache scored in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot much to the delight of the 75-strong membership who had all paid just under £2,000 to be involved!
For 2019 the HotToTrot1 syndicate will be represented by six exceptional fillies: two interesting three-year-olds who have already shown ability on the track, and four beautifully-bred two-year-olds. Details of the horses and their trainers are as follows:
MIRABAI (2016 filly Poet's Voice / Classical Flair)To be trained by Sir Mark Prescott, NewmarketMirabai is a fine big filly who showed glimmers of promise as a two-year-old last season. She has grown up both physically and mentally over the winter and there is reason to be optimistic she can improve off her initial rating of 63, not least when she steps up in distance on the track. She is trained in Newmarket by the legendary Sir Mark Prescott who has trained so many top class horses in his 49 years of holding a license including the dual Group 1 winning sprinter of 2017 Marsha. Our visits to Heath House Stables promise to be huge fun again this season.
ITIZZIT (2016 filly Mukhadram / Whatizzit)To be trained by Hughie Morrison, East IlsleyItizzit showed plenty of ability as a two-year-old last season for Newmarket handler Eugene Stanford including a 2nd to a subsequent Listed winner at Doncaster and a 5th in a Listed race at Sandown. She retains her maiden status for this term and is bred to be better at three so she could be an interesting proposition for her new trainer. She is to be trained in East Ilsley (near Newbury) by Hughie Morrison who has had over 850 winners spanning over two decades. Hughie has an incredible strike rate of winners from the number of horses he trains. July Cup winners Pastoral Pursuits and Sakhee's Secret, as well as Prix Royal Oak winner Alcazar, have firmly placed Hughie on the top table of trainers in the UK.
HAND ON MY HEART (2017 filly Iffraaj / Place In My Heart)To be trained by Clive Cox, LambournHand On My Heart is an incredibly well-bred filly being a half-sister to our own star fillies Heartache and Heartwarming. She is the third foal of the Listed-winning Place In My Heart and by the high-class sire Iffraaj, responsible for the likes of Ribchester, Chriselliam and Rizeena. This filly is a powerful and good moving sort who we can all dream about. She is to be trained at John Francome's Sheepdrove Farm in Lambourn by Clive Cox who has given us so many great days over the past couple of seasons with Heartache. Clive is one of the most talented trainers in the country and recent stars include Harry Angel, Profitable and Lethal Force.
DEPECHE TOI (2017 filly Camacho / Dew)To be trained by Jonny Portman, LambournThis filly is a daughter of Camacho, a half-brother to Showcasing, who is now a high-class sire of fillies, responsible in 2018 for the likes of French 1,000 Guineas heroine Teppal and Queen Mary winner Signora Cabello. The dam, Dew, is a half-sister to a Listed winner in Hong Kong and her first runner, Even Keel, was rated over 90 as a juvenile last season for none other than Jonny Portman. She is to be trained by Jonny Portman who has trained for over 20 years and who is based at Whitcoombe House Stables in Lambourn. Jonny has tasted Group success at Whitcombe with the likes of Annecdote, Royal Razalma and 5-time unbeaten two year old filly Mrs Danvers.
MORNING CATCH (2017 filly Dawn Approach / Brom Felinity)To be trained by Mark Johnston, MiddlehamThis filly is by Jim Bolger's unbeaten Champion 2yo and 2,000 Guineas winner Dawn Approach. The dam, Brom Felinity, was a Grade 2 winner in her native Australia and has already produced the 106-rated Walton Street at stud to date. A strong filly, she is a great mover who could be the type to come to hand early. She is to be trained by Mark Johnston at Park Farm in Middleham, one of the most beautiful training locations in the UK. In 2018, Mark broke the all-time record number of British winners for a racehorse trainer when Poet's Society gave him his 4,194th victory. These have included the likes of Attraction, Shamardal and Double Trigger.
XTRA RESPECT (2017 filly Mukhadram / Xtrasensory)To be trained by David Elsworth, NewmarketThis filly is by William Haggas' very tough Eclipse Stakes winner Mukhadram whose first crop are now three-year-olds. Her dam, Xtrasensory, is the dam of eight winners from nine runners and she is by the very fast Royal Applause - a good source of speed/precocity. This filly looks likely to take after her dam judging by her powerful and compact frame and she comes from the same stud as our high class two-year-old of 2018, Kurious. She is to be trained by the legendary David Elsworth at the historic Egerton House Stables in Newmarket. 'Elsy', now 79, is still at the top of his game with a fantastic 2018 that included Group 2 winner Sir Dancealot alongside a whole host of other major winners and an incredible strike rate. It was only a few years ago that his Arabian Queen produced a major shock to take the Group 1 Juddmonte International whilst Elsy is of course famous for the likes of Desert Orchid and 1988 Grand National winner Rhyme 'N' Reason in the past.
