Sourced by leading bloodstock agent J D Moore, See The Eagle Fly has been bought privately ahead of her intended sale at the upcoming Tattersalls August Sale in Newmarket.
She will go into training with Grade-1 and Cheltenham Festival winning trainer Harry Whittington ahead of a juvenile hurdling campaign in the 2020/21 National Hunt season. Rated 58 on the flat, she looks the ideal type to do this and will also have the option of continuing to run on the flat as well.
Harry has done well with juveniles in the past including Duke of Medina, who had a very similar profile before going on to run at the Cheltenham Festival in what is now known as the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle. A fantastic 2019/20 season for the yard included a winner and two places from three runners at the festival, which was an incredible achievement.
To date See The Eagle Fly has been in training with Tom Cooper (trainer of two Cheltenham Festival winners with Total Enjoyment and Forpadydeplasterer) on the flat and has been schooling well in preparation for a campaign over hurdles this season. Her best run so far has been over her longest trip of 1m 6f which suggests she will relish a step up in trip to 2m over hurdles.
The filly is by Free Eagle who is currently in the top 10 of the Leading 2nd Crop Sires list in Britain and Ireland in order of prize money with Khalifa Sat, who was second in the Epsom Derby, being his highest earner. Free Eagle is an exciting young son of the late great High Chaparral, who produced the outstanding Altior, and this filly will be part of his first crop to go over jumps. This filly is the mare's first progeny and all the signs are that she will continue the excellent form of her esteemed pedigree.
