Pimlico Racing is run by bloodstock agent Nathaniel Barnett. The aim is to purchase sensibly-priced horses that have the potential to progress and to be competitive in the higher-grade races on Saturdays.
Our first horse, Blu Cavalier, was purchased for £6,000 and has since finished third in the prestigious Betfair Hurdle at Ascot, as well as winning a class 2 handicap hurdle at Doncaster. Schone Aussicht is our second horse in training in Ireland (we also have Lamloom with Joseph O'Brien) and our first with Henry de Bromhead.
Schone Aussicht (translates to Beautiful View) is a five-year-old mare that has been in training in her native Germany throughout her career to date.
She has spent much of her career racing in France (as many from her yard tend to do) and is a three-time winner there, with a rating of 58, including on her penultimate outing at Vittel, where she won by six lengths over 1m4f. She has also won twice in Germany.
She won a Saint-Cloud handicap last autumn on heavy ground and conditions didn't really play to her strengths when fifth at Compiegne most recently - she is a real galloper, suited by testing conditions, and a thorough stayer too. I am confident that she will come into her own over longer trips and she looks an ideal candidate to go hurdling.
I am also very hopeful that there is improvement to come, as her yard hasn't been in top form in the past couple of seasons and, having always been in the same place since being purchased as a yearling, she could well come on plenty for the switch to Henry de Bromhead.
Let's hope that she can follow in the hoofprints of another five-year-old German mare that has been dominating headlines of late...Princess Zoe!
Schone Aussicht is the first foal of Suquia, herself a half-sister to Grp-3 winner Silvaner and multiple Listed-winner Secessio. In a pedigree packed with black-type, the grandam has four black-type winning siblings, so it is a really classy pedigree.
A big positive is her sire, Pastorius. He looks a potential star dual-purpose sire, with his first three runners over jumps as follows:
Neff: 60-rated on flat, now 130 over hurdles
Campinas: 65-rated maiden on the flat, winner of a Listed chase at Compiegne at four and second in a Listed hurdle
Manchego: Winner of two of his last three starts over fences, a fast-improving, 128-rated chaser
THE TRAINER - HENRY DE BROMHEAD
Henry de Bromhead is firmly established as a leading force in the National Hunt ranks. Countless Grade-1 winners have been trained from his yard in Co. Waterford, as well as four Festival winners in the past two years alone, including unbeaten superstar mare Honeysuckle.
Henry really encourages syndicate ownership and we are very excited to have a horse in training with him this season.
Shares in Schone Aussicht start from just 2.5%, with detailed costs as follows:
2.5%: £340 upfront followed by monthly payments of £65 a month from 1st October
5%: £680 upfront followed by monthly payments of £130 a month from 1st October
10%: £1360 upfront followed by monthly payments of £260 a month from 1st October
The syndicate will run through to March 2022, at which point the mare will be sent to the sales.
