A 25% share is available in the useful hurdler and exciting chasing prospect Kavanaghs Cross. He has recently joined the in-form Iain Jardine stable in Dumfries and Galloway.
Still very lightly-raced, the six-year-old son of Califet has been trained up to this point in Ireland, where he displayed progressive form in competitive maiden hurdles.
He was runner-up over two-miles at Navan in March on his second start over timber, before finishing fourth in a warm-looking heat at Fairyhouse when stepped up to two-and-a-half miles next time out.
A couple of runs at Kilbeggan followed, most notably when Kavanaghs Cross finished second to the promising €90,000 Gigginstown House Stud purchase Asserted. Having been a well supported favourite beforehand, Kavanaghs Cross looked the winner for much of the contest and led over the last - as the above picture demonstrates.
Such efforts in highly competitive maiden hurdles mark him out as a surefire future winner, and his potential when going over fences is tantalising. That is because he hails from a stout NH family, and it is only when going over the larger obstacles that his true potential will be realised.
Kavanaghs Cross is out of the Milan mare Mugs In Milan, an unraced full-sister to the point, bumper and hurdles winner Senor Lombardy, who has also finished second twice over fences.
Their dam Killoughey Babe was a lightly-raced sibling of the Irish Grand National hero Glebe Lad, the Grade-3 winning chaser Stashedaway, the Grade-3 placed hurdler Away Home, the Listed-placed hurdler On The Mend, and the Listed-winning chaser Bennie's Pride, all of whom were trained by Michael O'Brien.
The family continues to be influential, with the Grade-3 winning chaser and Grade-1 placed hurdler Tell Us More, the Grade-1 placed chaser Assemble and the Listed-winning hurdler Western Victory among its more recent graduates.
The sire Califet is an assured source of high-class NH stock, his most notable progeny including the Grade-1 winning hurdler and Grade-2 winning chaser Cilaos Emery, the Grade-1 winning French hurdler Blue Dragon and the Grade-1 winning chaser and Galway Plate hero Clarcam.
Don't miss out on this terrific opportunity to take an affordable share in a young horse who has shown plenty of promise so far and retains abundant potential when going over fences. Please get in touch for more information.
UPDATE! Kavanaghs Cross was an excellent third at Perth on his stable debut in August!
