One final 5% share is available in the high-class bumper prospect Hawa Bladi, in training with leading NH trainer Tim Vaughan in Cowbridge, South Wales.
He is by the exceptional Sea The Stars, a six-time Grp-1 winner at three, including the Guineas/Derby/Arc who has since proved an outstanding sire, standing at a covering fee of €135,000 in 2019.
The dam, Gentle On My Mind, is a daughter of Sadler's Wells, sire of sires including Galileo, Montjeu, King's Theatre, Kayf Tara, Yeats and so on.
He is the fifth foal out of the mare and she has already produced three high-class black-type performers on the flat in Meadow Creek (made debut as a spring three-year-old, multiple Group-placed in France and Dubai), Solomon's Bay (Listed winner at Epsom at three) and last year's four-length French Listed winner Tammani, whilst her siblings include black-type mares Ezima and Ezalli, the former being the dam of Oaks heroine Taghrooda (also by Sea The Stars).
It is a truly exceptional pedigree and, given he is a big and strong individual who never would have looked like making up into a two year old, we were delighted to have acquired him as a bumper prospect.
These flat-bred cast-offs don't come along too often, but I've always felt they offer excellent value in terms of your chances of ending up with a high-class horse. The likes of Tiger Roll (sold for £10,000 as an unraced summer three year old by Godolphin) and Supasundae (sold for £5,000 as an unraced autumn three year old out of Luca Cumani's) are excellent examples of this.
Closer to home, Tim Vaughan's Point Of Principle was purchased as an unraced three year old for £8,500 out of Sir Michael Stoute's, and he went on to win a bumper on Classic Chase day (beating Paisley Park!), finished runner-up in the Grade 3 Silver Trophy at Chepstow in October and in the Grade 3 Handicap hurdle at Aintree. In my capacity as a bloodstock agent, I was also involved in the purchase of Ocean Wind for owners Rockingham Reins - he was bought for just £9,000 last summer but went on to win a Listed bumper and finished sixth in the Champion Bumper at the Festival on his latest outing.
Hawa Bladi is a really imposing individual and looks very much the type to excel in the National Hunt sphere. He has been gelded since his purchase, has done really well physically and has been given plenty of time.
He will be trained for bumpers this season and all being well, will be ready to start off in September.
There is just 5% remaining in Hawa Bladi, with costs as follows:
5%: £1275 upfront then £125 a month from 1st July 2020
The syndicate will run through to the Doncaster Spring Sale in May 2021, at which point the horse will be sold unless all members wish to continue.
- Complimentary launch day lunch with Tim Vaughan: Join us at Tim's yard in September for a launch morning for the Hawa Bladi syndicate. We'll spend a morning on the gallops seeing Tim's horses in action, before heading to nearby Cowbridge for lunch.
- Individual Stable visits: Visit your horse at the trainer's yard, throughout the term of membership. This is arranged through Pimlico Racing and our trainer will have your horse ready to go out on the gallops at a time that is convenient for you.
- Owners badges: Every time Hawa Bladi runs, you'll receive a guaranteed complimentary badge (1 badge for 5% and 10% shareholders, 2 badges for 20% shareholders).
Equal share of all prize-money won: You'll receive your full share of all prize-money won by your horse during the syndicate term, minus Weatherbys fees/deductions. This will be paid out at the end of the term.
