Shares are available in the promising six-year-old Crillon gelding Fox's Socks. Trained by Alex Hales in Oxfordshire, this strong and scopey individual has made a fine start to his career and has the potential to go on to significantly better things.
Sharing his sire with dual Champion Hurdler Buveur D'Air, Fox's Socks is out of the Le Balafre mare Queva De Sarti, who won once over fences from just three career starts over obstacles. She has since gone on to produce three runners, with her 2012-foaled Al Namix gelding Camel De Sarti also winning over jumps in France.
Fox's Socks was a €45,000 purchase as a store, before initially going into training with Nicky Henderson. He showed promise in bumpers, finishing fourth on debut and runner-up second time out, before transferring to the Tom Lacey yard.
He ran just four times for that outfit, earning a relatively modest opening handicap rating after his first three starts over hurdles. However, he would go on to demonstrate that the mark seriously underestimated his ability, as he hacked up by 16l at Uttoxeter on his handicap debut and most recent start in July.
Now based with Alex Hales, the sky is the limit in terms of potential for this impressive model. The form of his victory has been franked, with the distant runner-up having won since, and the sheer ease of the win indicates his adjusted mark of 96 will be well within reach.
Furthermore, Fox's Socks also possesses the size and scope to progress from hurdles to fences further down the line, so there is much to look forward to.
