Hot To Trot Racing are an affordable syndicate that aims to provide its members with the thrill of racing horses at the highest of levels but for a fraction of the cost. Founded in 2011 by Sam Hoskins and Luke Lillingston, H2T have had at least five horses in training every season since with recent stars including Heartache, who took the 2017 Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2) at Royal Ascot and 2019 Coral Charge (Group 3) winner Kurious. The majority of H2T's horses are leased which keeps the quality of horse up but the cost of acquiring them down.
H2T are delighted to offer shares in their 'Hot To Trot Jumping' group for the 2020-21 season, consisting of eight leased horses. The cost for an all-inclusive share is £2,095. Membership numbers will be capped at 80 and members will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
The horses for Hot To Trot Jumping are as follows:
BLACK TULIP - 2012 chesnut mare by Black Sam Bellamy (Ire) ex Combe Florey (GB) (Alflora (Ire)), trained by Henry Daly, Ludlow.
Black Tulip is a daughter of Black Sam Bellamy, the Group 1 winning own-brother to Galileo and half-brother to Sea The Stars. On the dam's side, she is a half-sister to two smart hurdlers in Meet The Legend and Kayfleur. A two-time winner over hurdles, Black Tulip is well handicapped over fences and we hope to have her ready to run early in the autumn to take advantage of the better ground.
TRINCOMALEE - 2013 bay gelding by Malinas (Ger) ex Royal Tango (GB) (Petoski (GB)), trained by Lucy Wadham, Newmarket.
Trincomalee is by the German Derby runner-up Malinas who is a leading jumps stallion with the likes of American, Black Thunder and Medinas flying his flag. Trincomalee has been a fantastic horse for us over the past two seasons, never finishing out of the first four and winning twice (both times at Warwick!). Lucy is really pleased with how well he has done over the summer and he has strengthened up nicely. The plan is to go novice chasing in early October where we hope he could be a lot of fun!
DREWMAIN LEGEND - 2012 bay mare by Midnight Legend (GB) ex Ryders Hill (GB) (Zaffaran (USA)), trained by Ali and Sam Stronge, Lambourn.
Drewmain Legend is by the much missed Midnight Legend, who was a top class flat horse and hurdler himself, and who is responsible for numerous top class chasers including Gold Cup winner Sizing John. Out of a Zaffaran mare, Drewmain Legend is a scopey mare who has provided us with some great days, winning three times (so far!) for Hot To Trot. She has done really well over the summer (she might take quite a while to get fit!) which works well as she loves soft ground. She will be a fun horse for the winter over both hurdles and fences - look out for her when the mud is flying!
FAMILIAR SPIRIT - 2016 bay filly by Fame And Glory (GB) ex Sounds Familiar (Ire) (Orchestra (GB)), trained by Warren Greatrex, Lambourn.
Familiar Spirit is an unraced filly who was in training with Warren Greatrex last season, without making it to the track due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She is by Ascot Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory who was also 2nd in Sea The Stars' Epsom Derby. Sadly now deceased, Fame And Glory appears to be a great loss to the National Hunt stallions ranks having made a hugely exciting start at stud. This filly is a half-sister to the Listed-placed bumper horse Alverstone and is one to look forward to in bumpers this year. She has always impressed Warren at home and so we can't wait to see her on the track!
LILLY PEDLAR - 2015 bay filly by Yeats (Ire) ex Mathine (Fr) (Malinas (Ger)), trained by Nicky Henderson, Lambourn.
Lilly Pedlar is by legendary multiple Ascot Gold Cup winner Yeats and out of a half-sister to none other than Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Long Run (also trained by Nicky) so she is bred to be smart! 'Lilly' has shaped with plenty of promise on her two starts to date, and we hope she can progress into a nice mare this season. She has been schooling well at home and should be out early in the autumn over hurdles.
MAROOCHI - 2017 filly by Presenting (GB) ex Makadamia (GB) (Kahyasi (Ire)), trained by Alan King, Barbury Castle.
Maroochi is a three-year-old filly by one of the all-time great jump sires in Presenting, sire of outstanding chaser Denman, Gold Cup winner War Of Attrition, and a whole host of other top class horses. She is out of a daughter of the classy chaser Makounji, who won the Grade 2 Pendil Novices Chase at Kempton for the Waley-Cohen family (from whom we have leased Maroochi). She has impressed in her pre-training and looks like she should come to hand quickly. Maroochi is an exciting addition to the team and is one to look out for in juvenile hurdles this season.
CHABICHOU DUPOITOU - 2016 filly by Martaline (GB) ex Tidara Angel (Ire) (Oratorio (Ire)), trained by Philip Hobbs, Minehead.
Chabichou Dupoitou is an exceptionally well-bred filly, being out of the Grade 1 winning Tidara Angel and by the top-class stallion Martaline, who is a consistent sire of quality horses including Grade 1 winners Dynaste, Terrefort and We Have A Dream. Chabichou Dupoitou is another filly we have leased from Robert Waley-Cohen's Upton Viva stud, and we are delighted to be involved with such a blue-blooded filly!
LAST OF A LEGEND - 2017 filly by Midnight Legend (GB) ex Blue Buttons (Ire) (King's Theatre (Ire)), trained by Harry Fry, Seaborough.
Last Of A Legend is an athletic looking three-year-old filly by the wonderful stallion Midnight Legend (also the sire of Drewmain Legend), an excellent sire of fillies, and producer of tough and likeable horses. Last Of A Legend is out of the King's Theatre mare Blue Buttons, who won a Listed race for Harry Fry, who now has his first opportunity to train the progeny of a mare he has also handled! Last Of A Legend looks to be a precocious type, and will be one for junior bumpers this season.
