2018 Filly by Marcel (Ire) x Waterways (Ire)

This lovely unnamed two-year-old filly by Marcel, out of the Listed-winning and Grp-3 placed Alhaarth mare Waterways, is available on a free lease!

She is based with two-time Derby winning-trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam in Newmarket, who incidentally also trained Marcel to win the Grp-1 Racing Post Trophy in 2015.

Unfortunately, Marcel was injured in the following season's 2,000 Guineas and had to be retired after just four starts, with the full extent of his abilities as a racehorse unknown. However, as the joint highest-rated son of sire of sires Lawman and from an exceptional distaff family, he remains a tremendous stallion prospect.

Having transferred from the National Stud to Anngrove Stud in Ireland, Marcel's first crop has so far numbered just four runners. That said, they have displayed plenty of promise and the best is yet to come.

Being out of a Listed winner, this filly is one of the sire's better bred two-year-olds, and has the physical attributes to suggest she'll give her owners plenty of fun over the next season or two. The dam Waterways won the Listed Marble Hill Stakes over five-furlongs as a two-year-old, as well as taking second place finishes behind the high-class pair Dandy Man and Rumplestiltskin in other Listed contests and finishing third in the Grp-3 Molecomb Stakes.

She trained on to win a conditions event as a three-year-old and has subsequently produced four winners as a broodmare. These include the one-time 88-rated triple winner I'vegotthepower. The two-year-old filly remains unraced but is now ready to progress in her work with a view to racing in the near future.

She is the product of a smart and precocious two-year-old and by a stallion who earned Grp-1 honours as a juvenile; combine that with her good looks and physical quality and it is clear that this exceptional offer is not to be missed!  

Lease Terms

This filly is offered on a free lease for the duration of her racing career. 

The lessee will be responsible for training fees from the onset of the lease agreement.
