Sire: HARBOUR WATCH (IRE)
Dam: COCABANA (GB)
Dam Sire: CAPTAIN RIO (GB)
The three-year-old Harbour Watch filly Port Noir is offered for auction. A tough and likeable sprint handicapper, she has won twice already this season and has plenty more to offer.
Port Noir is out of the Captain Rio mare Cocabana, who won a five-furlong Yarmouth nursery at two and Lingfield handicap over the same trip as a three-year-old. In addition, her sire Harbour Watch has really hit the headlines in recent months thanks to the exploits of his dual Grp-2 winning son Pyledriver and Hong Kong Group-1 winner Waikuku.
Cocaban has since gone on to produce a total of six winners, including the five-time winner and one-time 97-rated See The Sun, whilst she is herself out of a half-sister to the Grp-3 (then) King George Stakes heroine Ringmoor Down and the Grp-3 placed Still Going On, from a family that is all about blistering speed.
Port Noir has certainly lived up to familial expectations in that respect. Based with trainer Grace Harris in South Wales, she demonstrated her first hint of ability when a nose second in a six-furlong Wolverhampton nursery in August 2019 and was placed at Ffos Las too next time out.
Put away after that run in September, Port Noir was not seen on track again until after lockdown, when lining up for a competitive 0-60 five-furlong handicap at Chepstow in June. Having raced in mid-division, she came with a storming late run on the near side rail, to ultimately win with some authority.
Two starts later she repeated the trick, this time over five-and-a-half-furlongs at Ffos Las. Held up towards the rear of the pack by jockey of the moment Hollie Doyle, Port Noir was produced with a well-timed run to lead near the finish.
Those efforts propelled Port Noir to a career-high mark of 61, though given she has siblings that have been rated around 100, this surely still underestimates her potential. She remains relatively lightly-raced after just 14 starts, and is a good-looking individual who surely has breeding potential further down the line.
Port Noir is a talented young sprinter, who remains handily weighted and will surely be winning more races in the future; please don't forget to register your interest by placing a bid now!
