The six-time winning sprinter and smart broodmare prospect Our Little Pony is offered for sale at £15,000 ONO. Currently in training with Lawrence Mullaney in Great Habton, North Yorkshire, she is available to stay in the yard or move elsewhere.
A five-year-old daughter of Bated Breath, Our Little Pony won over five-furlongs at Beverley in the May of her two-year-old season. Initially trained by Richard Fahey, she was soon in the care of Lawrence Mullaney and has continued to improve with racing.
As a three-year-old she won a trio of five-furlong handicaps, at Beverley (twice) and Thirsk, and ended the season on an official rating of 74. She would take her form to an even higher level last year, adding another success at Thirsk and then producing a career-best to score on her final run of the campaign at Pontefract.
That most recent success was achieved from a mark of 78 and the handicapper has since nudged her up to a career-high perch of 82. If the eight pounds of improvement she found from three to four is reciprocated this time around, Our Little Pony will be on the cusp of running in some of the most valuable and prestigious sprint handicaps in the country.
To this point Our Little Pony's career record stands at six wins and nine other top three finishes, from just 28 starts, whilst she has accumulated approaching £50,000 in win and place prize money. A five-furlong specialist, though extremely capable at six-furlongs too, she is equally effective on quick ground or much softer and runs regularly and consistently throughout the season.
Our Little Pony is out of the multiple Listed-placed mare Cracking Lass, and is therefore a half-sister to the useful hurdler Fantastic Ms Fox - who won a Listed hurdle at Doncaster in January and subsequently finished fourth in the Grade-2 Adonis Hurdle at Kempton behind Solo. Cracking Lass is herself a sibling of the Listed-placed Tagula Sunrise, whilst the extended family is awash with black-type animals, including the Grp-1 Oaks, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks heroine Ramruna.
The sire Bated Breath was a Grp-2 winning sprinter and has established himself as a high-class stallion in a relatively short space of time. His progeny completed a Royal Ascot hat-trick in 2019 and he is standing at a career-high fee this year.
Although yet to have any such runners, Bated Breath looks sure to make his mark as a broodmare sire in the future. This point was emphatically underlined when his daughters Wild Rye and Impede auctioned for 300,000gns and 200,000gns respectively at the most recent edition of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale.
Our Little Pony is a very likeable mare with lots more racing and winning to do yet, plus an exciting breeding future. Don't miss out!
