2019 Filly by Pedro the Great (USA) ex All I Need (Ire)

An attractive two-year-old filly by Pedro The Great from a wonderful Wildenstein family is offered for sale.

This racey and well-balanced individual is the second produce out of the Peintre Celebre mare All I Need, who is an unraced half-sister to the Grp-3 Prix Allez France heroine Aquamarine and the Stakes-placed African Sky. Aquamarine has since gone to produce All Rumours, who landed the Listed Grand Prix de Fontainebleau earlier this month.

The next generation of this tremendous pedigree features the dual US Grade-1 winner Angara, whilst the further family contains a multitude of famous names such as Arcangues and Aquarelliste.

All I Need's first foal was a filly by Shalaa, who realised €34,000 when sold at the Arqana October Yearling Sale in 2019 and has the potential to add to the page in due course.

On this occasion she has been matched with Pedro The Great, a son of Henrythenavigator who won the Grp-1 Phoenix Stakes in 2012 when trained by Aidan O'Brien.

He was subsequently retired to Haras De La Neuve in France and proved an enormous success during five years of service, before his premature death in 2019 at just nine years of age.

Despite standing his early covering seasons at the meagre fee of €3,000, he still managed to produce numerous stakes performers including the Grade-1 Del Mar Oaks heroine Fatale Bere, the Grp-1 Prix Marcel Boussac fourth Lagrandecatherine and the Listed winners Pedro Cara and Happy Bere. 

Such impressive results ensured that the fee for his services went up to €9,000 for the 2019 season, though unfortunately it proved to be his last. With a scarcity value now attached, Pedro The Great's young stock continue to perform well in the sales ring, with two of his yearlings selling for €31,000 and €40,000 at Arqana last year.
