Everybody loves a grey! If that includes you, why not join The Grey Racehorse Club and take a share in this very exciting two-year-old filly by Iffraaj? An attractive and racy-looking individual, she will be trained by the up and coming George Scott in Newmarket.
Club manager Mike Lilley, with decades worth of experience as an owner/breeder and over 50 winners to his name, has long wanted to create a grey horse racing club, and in 2020 that vision will become a reality. With the help of both George and renowned bloodstock agent Billy Jackson-Stops, Mike sourced this superb filly at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
She is a March-foaled daughter of the Dansili mare Tequila Sunrise, who only made it to the racecourse twice but boasts impeccable pedigree credentials.Out of the Listed-winning and Grp-3 placed mare Kenmist, Tequila Sunrise is a sibling of the top-class racemare Grey Lilas, who won the Grp-1 Prix du Moulin and was also placed in both the Prix de Diane and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.
Since retiring to breeding duties Grey Lilas has produced the outstanding Golden Lilac, who avenged her mother's defeats in both French fillies Classics, as well as the Stakes winners Grey Lion and Golden Guepard. Kenmist's further progeny include the Listed winner Kandahar Run and Listed-placed pair Stendhal and Chambord.
The exceptional quality of this tail line is a neat match for the sire Iffraaj. A top-class six/seven-furlong performer during his racing days, he has proven himself a high-class and versatile stallion. He is capable of getting winners at a variety of distances and is well worth his £35,000 covering fee.
Ifraaj's best runners to date include the multiple Grp-1 winning Champion Miler Ribchester, the Grp/Grade-1 winning two-year-olds Wootton Bassett and Chriselliam, the Grp-1 winning sprinter Jungle Cat and the mile and a half Grp-1 winner Jon Snow.
It is also worth commenting on the fine record Iffraaj has with daughters of established broodmare sire Dansili. The nick has previously produced several winners, most notably the triple Listed and Grp-3 winning filly Muffri' Ha and the three-time winning Listed-placed mare Umneyati.
The Grey Racehorse Club is in the advantageous position of having prior knowledge of the family, as the filly's elder brother Sarvan (by Lope De Vega) is also in training with George, and is held in high regard.
A former assistant to Lady Cecil at Warren Place, George has created a huge impression in just a handful of seasons with a licence. Significant triumphs, such as the Grp-2 Mill Reef Stakes victory of James Garfield and the thrilling international successes of Another Batt, have marked him out as one of the emerging stars of the training ranks.
He is now renovating the historic Eve Lodge Stables, a project which promises to take his career to the next level. By taking membership of the Grey Racehorse Club, you will be granted unprecedented access to this most storied of training establishments - the former base of Lester Piggott amongst others.
As for this filly, her trainer reports her to be an easy mover and very well balanced. She is expected to develop into a nice mid-summer two-year-old.
This smart and attractive young filly has everything you could possibly look for on paper to make up into a decent juvenile, whilst the physical evidence attached to this advert only adds to the excitement.
