Shares are available in an attractive three-year-old filly by Adaay. From a fast and precocious family, this Plus10 registered youngster is eligible for the £150,000 Tattersalls Book 3 Sales race.
She is in training in Newmarket with Patrick Owens, who has only recently taken out his licence. Having gained experience as assistant trainer to Luca Cumani and numerous other respected figures around the world, Patrick has spent the last six years educating stars of the future for numerous top trainers including John Gosden.
Patrick sent out a winner with just his second runner in January, and you can find out more about the trainer and his facilities HERE
The sire Adaay is a son of the record-breaking Kodiac, and looks highly likely to develop into a leading first-crop sire this year.
A precocious individual, he defeated the high-class Kodi Bear on his racecourse debut at Newbury, before placing in the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes behind the subsequent Grp-1 winner Limato later that season.
He progressed sufficiently from two to three to win the Listed Carnarvon Stakes (from subsequent Grp-1 winner Jungle Cat) and the Grp-2 Sandy Lane Stakes (exacting his revenge on Limato in the process), both over six-furlongs, and added the Grp-2 Hungerford Stakes over seven-furlongs to his CV the same year.
Now based at Whitsbury Manor, the facility which transformed Showcasing into a top-flight stallion from an economy base and which also houses Due Diligence, who made such an impression last year, Adaay looks set to be the next success story for the stud.
His yearlings sold for as much as £210,000 in the autumn and good things are expected of his progeny on the racecourse.
The sire certainly looks a shrewd match for the dam of this filly, Cross My Heart. She was a speedy two-year-old for trainer William Haggas, winning on her third appearance over five-furlongs at Pontefract.
Since her attentions were switched to breeding she has produced three runners, most notably the six-furlong two-year-old debutant winner Praxidice, whilst her 2017 Showcasing colt Point Of Order was placed several times last year and achieved a peak rating of 78.
Cross My Heart is a sibling of the wonderful sprinter Stepper Point, who won 10 races at up to Grp-2 level, as well as the smart and speedy Lady In France, who won in Listed company at Ayr last season. The further family is bursting with speed and quality, as the next generation of the pedigree features the Grp-2 Queen Mary Stakes and Grp-2 Flying Childers Stakes heroine Heartache, her Listed-winning dam Place In My Heart and the Grp-3 Tetrarch Stakes winner Leitrim House.
The combination of a well-related and talented mare with an exciting young stallion promises plenty. The attendant video evidence demonstrates the quality that this filly possesses, and she is sure to provide her owners with lots of excitement when racing resumes.
