Date of Birth: 08 May 2020
Sire: SADDLER'S ROCK (IRE)
Dam: LADY BLADE (IRE)
Dam Sire: DAGGERS DRAWN (USA)
A superb May-born colt foal by Saddler's Rock is offered for sale.
This stunning individual is out of the Dagger's Drawn mare Lady Blade. She was placed in a seven-furlong Brighton maiden as a two-year-old and later showed form at up to a mile and a quarter and ran over hurdles.
Lady Blade has subsequently developed into a fine NH broodmare, producing two winners from five runners to date. Her first foal Billy Blade, by Generous, was twice a winner over hurdles for Evan Williams, whilst her Sulamani gelding Thegaygardener won once and placed four times from just 10 starts over hurdles for the same trainer.
Her latest runner, the six-year-old Geordieland gelding Geordiebest, showed promise when placing in bumpers during the 2018/19 season but has not raced since.
Lady Blade's progeny also have a track record of performing well in the sales ring, with her 2012 foaled Apple Tree gelding Ulsterman realising €22,000 at the 2015 Goffs Landrover NH Sale.
Lady Blade is a half-sister to the triple hurdles winner and 128-rated Lucaindubai, whilst their second dam Sidama was a high-class broodmare that produced nine winners in total. Included amongst that number was the Grade-1 Cleeve Hurdle winner and Grade-1 Triumph Hurdle runner-up Mistinguett, who would herself go on to produce the Listed Flat winner and Grp-2 (then) Goodwood Cup third Misternando, the Grade-2 placed hurdler Mistanoora and Grade-2 Persian War Novices' Hurdle hero Rimsky.
Another of Sidama's progeny, the smart staying mare Sinntara, would go on to produce the outstanding Derby and Arc winner Sinndar, and there is a seemingly endless number of black-type earners further down the page.
Complementing this high-quality tail line is the influence of the sire Saddler's Rock.
A classy stayer when trained by John Oxx, he won the Grp-2 (then) Goodwood Cup and Grp-2 Doncaster Cup, and was also third in the Grp-1 Ascot Gold Cup. He retired to Beech Tree Stud in 2015 and his eldest progeny have now turned four. Although yet to be represented by any significant number of runners, as a son of the great Sadler's Wells from an outstanding family, he remains a superb stallion prospect.
The accompanying video and pictorial evidence demonstrates the tremendous quality that this colt foal possesses. He is bred to develop into a very exciting horse in the years to come and has clearly made the best possible start to life.
