The good walking and correct Listed-winning Peintre Celebre broodmare Kareemah is offered for sale. She is a good mare to deal with, and has a nice head and a good outlook.
The 14-year-old was bred by Shadwell Estates and went into training with John Hammond in Chantilly. She won on her racecourse debut as a three-year-old over a mile and three-furlongs, before finishing only five lengths behind the top-class Dar Re Mi in the Grp-3 Prix Minerve on her second outing.
She would only race twice more but confirmed herself an extremely smart performer by winning the Listed Prix Charles Laffitte over a mile and a quarter.
Since retiring to breeding duties Kareemah has produced several useful progeny.
Her 2013-foaled son Ehtiraas, by Oasis Dream, won a Thirsk maiden by five lengths on his way to achieving a peak career rating of 87, and was even considered good enough to undertake pacemaking duties in the Grp-1 St James's Palace Stakes. She has also produced the mile and a half maiden winning filly Saraha (by Dansili), whilst her 2014-foaled son Alfawaris (by Frankel) ran only twice, but displayed above-average talent when a four-length third to the mighty Cracksman in a Newmarket maiden - with Stradivarius one place and two lengths further back.
Kareemah has young stock still to come through by New Approach and Ulysses, so her future prospects remain bright.
The mare's decent record as a producer is complemented by a pedigree with real depth. She is a sibling of the Grade-1 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf and Grade-1 Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes heroine Lahudood, whilst this storied family traces back to the fabled Height of Fashion. That Blue Hen was joint Champion Two-Year-Old filly of Europe and went on to produce the exceptional trio of Nashwan, Nayef and Unfuwain.
It is also worth dwelling upon the excellent record of Peintre Celebre as a broodmare sire. His daughters have accounted for dozens of group-race winners, including Grp-1 scorers such as Pakistan Star, Protectionist, Talent and Red Cadeaux. He continues to be a much-coveted source in this department.
As recently as July 2018, Khareemah's unraced daughter Modhafarah auctioned for 35,000gns. There can be surely no better advertisement than that for the exceptional value that this attractive and good-tempered mare offers at the asking price.
