The high-class 10-year-old broodmare Jollification is offered for sale, in foal to the exciting sire Kuroshio!
A daughter of Acclamation, Jollification was a smart two-year-old when trained by George Baker. She defeated the subsequently 103-rated City Girl in a five-furlong Salisbury maiden on her second start before finishing fourth in the Grp-3 Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot behind the high-class Maureen.
Jollification is a half-sister to the Grp-3 placed two-year-old Big Issue and out of the Listed-placed mare Improvise, from a family that can be traced back to numerous other stakes performers.
It is also notable that her sire Acclamation is in increasing demand as a broodmare sire. His daughters are responsible for a growing list of stakes winners, such as the Grp-1 Commonwealth Cup hero Eqtidaar, the Grp-2 winning 2,000 Guineas runner-up Massaat, the Grp-3 winning Derby fourth Broome and the Listed-winning and Grp-1 placed San Donato.
This improving record has translated to a heightened demand for Acclamation mares in the auction ring, with his Grp-1 winning daughter Marsha famously making 6,000,000gns, The Wagon Wheel 650,000gns and Vagabonde 400,000gns when sold as broodmare prospects in recent years.
Since retiring from the track, Jollification has produced three runners, most notably the useful sprinter Street Parade. Having made £25,000 as a foal, he was a £100,000 purchase at the Ascot Breeze-Up Sale in 2018 - the second highest lot of the sale - and has gone on to win three times and achieve a peak official rating of 101.
Jollification's yearling filly by Cotai Glory realised £19,000 when selling to Kilbrew Stud at the Ascot Yearling Sale earlier this year (featured in the second picture), whilst she also has a filly foal by Zoffany (not part of the sale).
Adding significantly to the appeal of this sale is the knowledge that Jollification is in foal to the increasingly popular Kuroshio. Standing in Ireland with Compass Stallions at a fee of €6,000, Kuroshio was a high-class two-year-old and Grp-2 winning sprinter at three in his native Australia.
He has quickly demonstrated himself to be a very capable stallion since his first runners emerged in 2018, with his first crop featuring an impressive 43% black-type horses to runners ratio. Featured amongst their number was the Grp-3 winning sprinter Kurious, who was fifth in the Nunthorpe behind Battaash last month, and the Grp-2 placed Dunkerron.
Jollification is a well-related mare, with a winning racecourse record and proven credentials as a broodmare. She has many good breeding years in front of her and is in foal to a stallion of serious potential, so would surely prove a good addition to any broodmare band.
