The 11-year-old mare Dee Natra is offered for sale. Although she went into training she was unraced due to injury, and she is now no longer suitable for riding purposes so a breeding career is sought. She stands 16.1hh and delivery to her new home can be arranged.
Dee Natra is related to numerous winners, including the dual hurdles scorer Westway Lad and Young Toby, who won four times in Malaysia. There are several NH performers in her pedigree, hinting that Dee Natra might be of interest to NH breeders.
She is by the talented sire Denounce, who was trained by Sir Henry Cecil for Prince Khalid Abdulla. Although lightly-raced, as a sibling of numerous stakes performers from a good Juddmonte family, his place at stud was assured. Indeed, he is from a stallion-making family, as the descendants of his US Grade-2 winning half-sister Didina include the exciting young stallions Bated Breath, who was represented by three winners at Royal Ascot this year, and Cityscape, whose first crop last season featured a pair of Grp-3 Classic trial winners.
Denounce is a son of the confirmed sire of sires Selkirk and has proven himself to be a very useful source in his own right. His best-known progeny is the Grp-3 Chipchase Stakes winner Danzeno, who has been placed in many of the country's leading sprint races, such as the Grp-1 British Champions Sprint behind Muhaarar. Meanwhile under NH rules he has been represented by the four-time hurdles winner Nicki's Nipper and the dual chase scorer Quick Brew.
From a very small sample of runners under either code, therefore, Denounce has demonstrated significant quality and produced some very eyecatching results. It is particularly exciting to note that in March of this year his first representative in the broodmare sire division, the three-year-old Epaulette gelding Lennybe, cruised to an eight length success in a Southwell maiden.
Clearly Denounce retains untapped potential as a damsire, and Dee Natra is a mare of size, athleticism and real quality. She might not boast the most star-studded distaff side to her pedigree, but at a bargain price and with many good breeding years ahead of her, she undoubtedly has lots to offer.
