The Orientate mare Bengers Lass is offered for sale. She is currently in foal to Coach House.
Bengers Lass ran just a handful of times before pursuing a breeding career, and has subsequently produced offspring by Hellvelyn, Kheleyf, Pastoral Pursuits, as well as three foals by Coach House.
Her progeny include the multiple Italian winner Chassis and Spirit of May, an extremely useful four-time winning sprinter for Roger Teal, who was rated 89 at the outset of the 2020 season. Spirit of May is by Coach House, and therefore a full-sibling to Bengers Lass's unborn foal, as is the three-year-old Williorwonti, who was placed as a two-year-old in France last year.
Bengers Lass is a half-sister to the Listed-winner Queen's Love, out of the Grp-2 (then) Falmouth Stakes third Wiedniu. The extended family features numerous other Stakes-winners including the US Grade-1 winner and successful broodmare Lotka.
Another positive element of the pedigree is the record of Orientate as a broodmare sire. Winner of the Grade-1 Breeders' Cup Sprint during a stellar racing career, he has produced over a dozen Group-race winners as a damsire, including Grade-1 winners Long On Value and Shanghai Bobby.
The covering sire Coach House was a Listed-winner and Grp-2 placed during his brief racing career for Aidan O'Brien, and is out of the lightning-fast Grp-3 winning and Grp-1 placed sprinter Lesson In Humility. His half-brother Tiger Moth added much to the page this year when runner-up in both the Irish Derby and Melbourne Cup.
Coach House has confirmed himself a highly capable sire since his first runners emerged in 2018, producing a large number of winners including the Listed winning and Grp-1 placed juvenile Summer Sands and the stakes-placed The Cruising Lord. His unborn promises to be an enormous asset for whomever is lucky enough to secure the purchase of Bengers Lass; the aforementioned Spirit of May auctioned for £25,000 at the breeze-ups in 2018 to confirm the commercial appeal of this match.
Bengers Lass is a talented mare in foal to a good young sire, and she has lots more to offer breeders. Please get in touch for more details.
Note: the mare has been seen to windsuck.
