Barbiegold (IRE)

The four-year-old Kendargent filly Barbiegold is offered for sale as a broodmare prospect.

Lightly-raced whilst in training in France, Barbiegold now looks to have all the right credentials for a successful breeding career. She is out of the five-time winning Azamour mare Porcini, a strong stayer who was rated 84 at her peak.

Porcini is in turn out of Portal, who won in Listed company and was Grp-2 placed, and is therefore a sibling of the Grp-2 Lillie Langtry Stakes heroine Pilaster and the multiple-times Group-placed St Leger fourth Windshear. This excellent Cheveley Park family features numerous other high-class individuals, such as the dual Grp-2 winner and 1,000 Guineas runner-up Spacious and the multiple North American Grade-2 winner Dimension.

Contributing significantly to Barbiegold's appeal as a broodmare is the identity of her sire, Kendargent.

The Haras de Colleville resident was a Grp-1 placed miler who retired to stud with relatively little fanfare. However, he has gone on to prove himself a stallion of serious merit since his first runners emerged in 2012. Amongst his best runners are the Grp-2 winners Skalleti, Jimmy Two Times, Restiadargent and Sky Full Of Stars. 

However, of even greater interest is his developing record as a broodmare sire. 2020 has been a breakthrough year for the stallion in that department, with his daughters responsible for the Grp-1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Sealiway, the Grp-3 Prix de Seine-et-Oise hero Brad The Brief and the Listed winners Kenway, Restiany and Styledargent. 

Clearly the product of excellent breeding on both sides, the attractive Barbiegold has every chance of making the grade as a broodmare and is offered for auction in a very competitive price bracket. Please get in touch for more information.
