The four-year-old Dawn Approach filly Aqrab is offered for sale as a breeding prospect. She has been seen to crib bite.
A Shadwell homebred, Aqrab was lightly-raced on the track, placing once as a two-year-old from just seven career starts, the most recent of which came in October 2020.
She hails from an exceptional Shadwell family and now a breeding career awaits.
Her dam Aljaaziah is an unraced daughter of the 2005 Oaks heroine Eswarah. Aljaaziah is therefore a sibling of the Grp-1 Fillies' Mile runner-up Firdaws and the dam of the high-class French filly Raabihah, who won the Grp-3 Prix de Psyche and was runner-up in the Grp-1 Prix Vermeille in 2020.
Eswarah was in turn out of the 1,000 Guineas and Oaks heroine Midway Lady, from an exceptionally prolific black-type producing family.
Aqrab's sire Dawn Approach was a four-time Grp-1 winner, including the 2,000 Guineas, and he has quickly developed into a highly accomplished sire. His best progeny to date include the Derby runner-up Madhmoon, the Grp-3 winning and Grp-1 placed pair Dawn Patrol and Musis Amica and the Listed-winning Irish Oaks third Mary Tudor.
His progeny enjoyed an excellent end to the 2020 season, with Majestic Dawn wining the Cambridgeshire and the highly promising Poetic Flare the Grp-3 Killavulan Stakes.
A fine sire of fillies, it seems inevitable that he will develop into a good broodmare sire in due course, although he is too young to have been represented in that division so far.
Aqrab hails from a highly sought-after Classic-producing family, is by a talented sire and has her whole career ahead of her. She is sure to attract a good deal of interest; please get in touch for more information.
