An unraced and unnamed seven-year-old broodmare prospect by Malinas is offered for sale at £5,500 plus VAT. Boasting good looks and a pleasing pedigree, this mare is sold with the added bonus of having been scanned in foal to the promising Cannock Chase.
She is out of the talented racemare Poppy Come Running, who won once and was placed once from just four appearances in bumpers for Gary Moore. That mare has since gone on to produce the triple point-to-point winner Hard Ground - also by Malinas - plus unraced young stock by leading sires Kayf Tara, Getaway and Court Cave.
Poppy Come Running is in turn out of a half-sister to the Grade-2 placed hurdler Accidental Outlaw and the Listed-placed flat performer Jeu de Mot, whilst the French Listed-winning chaser Another Jewel emerged from the same branch of the family.
A pedigree of exceptional merit under either code, other stellar names on the page include legendary triple Champion Hurdle hero Istabraq and Secreto, who famously defeated El Gran Senor in the 1984 Derby.
Complementing this fine tail line is the influence of Glenview Stud stalwart Malinas.
A Grp-2 winning and Grp-1 placed runner in his native Germany, he has since carved out a reputation as an extremely reliable NH sire in Britain, France and Ireland. His best performers to date include the Grade-2 winners Black Thunder, Medinas and Mister Malarky, whilst he is already off the mark as a broodmare sire from a small pool of runners.
The sire's progeny continue to attract plenty of sales ring interest (auctioning for up to £70,000 in the past 12 months), and his enduring reputation is sure to stand this mare in good stead in years to come.
The addition of an unborn foal by Cannock Chase adds significantly to the appeal of this mare.
A high-class middle-distance performer trained by Sir Michael Stoute, Cannock Chase won the Grade-1 Canadian International and his first crop runners are showing promise on the flat this year. He recently enjoyed his first success when the Mark Johnston-trained Run This Way impressively made all over seven-furlongs at Haydock.
However, it is surely going to be under National Hunt rules that his offspring are seen to best effect, so the encouraging start Cannock Chase has made with his two-year-olds bodes extremely well.
Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to purchase an in-foal mare with first-class credentials, at an extremely competitive price.
