In training with Derek Shaw, Trusty Scout is a winner and placed five times and will be a dual purpose horse for this season. He also ran three times over hurdles at as a three-year-old in 2021. Trusty Scout made a pleasing start to 2023 with a close third at Wolverhampton on 9 January over 8.5 furlongs.
Trusty Scout is the first foal out of unraced Dutch Art mare Dutch Lilly. His third dam is Hunt The Sun who produced nine winners from 10 runners headed by the Group / Grade 1 winners Meteor Storm and Polish Summer. Hunt The Sun also produced stakes winning duo Host Nation and Morning Eclipse. This is also the family of Group 1 winning sire Ice Breeze and Grade 1 Hurdle winner Low Sun.
