A yearling filly by Steele Tango out of Maydream is offered for sale.
Maydream was a remarkably genuine and consistent performer on the track. A late maturing filly who didn’t reach her peak until four years of age, she won five times at distances ranging from a mile and five furlongs to two miles, at one stage collecting five victories in eight starts and improving her handicap mark by 25 pounds in the process.
Since retiring to the breeding paddock, Maydream has produced three foals including this yearling filly on sale. Her only runner to date has been Millie May, who upheld family honour when winning in courageous fashion at Lingfield in December at 66/1 over a mile and a half. On that occasion she defeated subsequent winners Dolphin Village and Music Major and she looks handicapped to win again soon.
Like her mother, Millie May took time to come to hand and was lightly raced at two and three, but a patient approach often pays dividends with this family, and the potency of the producers in this line is beyond question. Maydream is one of two winners from three runners out of Maedance, whilst the next dam Maestrale produced no less than seven winners from nine runners – so the hopes of Maydream maintaining her 100% winners to runners strike rate with this filly must be high.
The sire Steele Tango was a tremendously tough and classy operator during his racing career. Out of a half-sister to the French 1,000 Guineas heroine Valentine Waltz, he won five races including the Grp-3 Earl Of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket and twice at the Dubai Carnival. He has only been represented by a handful of runners to this point, though they include the promising Tin Fandango, who has been second on his last two outings and looks a decent staying handicapper in the making.
This yearling filly is blessed with a winning pedigree and has excellent long-term potential; her bargain price tag will surely reward buyers willing to take a patient approach.
