Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds are delighted to offer shares in a stunning chestnut yearling filly by Camacho. She will be the first KVT horse trained by the Oxfordshire-based Eve Johnson Houghton, who celebrated her most significant success this season when sending out Accidental Agent to win the Grp-1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The filly is the fifth foal out of the Barathea mare Pashmina, who was unraced but counts amongst her siblings the Grp-3 winning sprinter Monsieur Joe. The further family features Grp-1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Pass The Peace and her Grp-1 winning descendants Embassy, King's Apostle (by Barathea) and Atlantic Jewel. As hinted at in the previous sentence, Barathea is an exceptional damsire. His mares have produced such Grp-1 winning luminaries as Arabian Queen, Hunter's Light, Shareta, Monterosso, Jakkalberry, Tie Black and Necklace - to name just a few.
Camacho was a Listed winner that finished second in the Grp-3 Jersey Stakes over seven-furlongs. From an exceptional Juddmonte family, he is a sibling of the increasingly prominent sire Showcasing. Camacho has quietly built a fine track record as a sire in his own right, with his service fee and quality of mare steadily increasing since his first covering season in 2006. That progress has culminated in an exceptional 2018, with Teppal winning the Grp-1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and Signora Cabello winning twice in Grp-2 company and finishing second in the Grp-1 Prix Morny.
Another of his best progeny is the seven-year-old sprinter My Catch, who won the Grp-3 Prix de Cabourg as a juvenile and was still winning in Graded company as recently as February of this year. Significantly, he is also out of a Barathea mare, confirming the potency of the nick.
The filly was purchased at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale and was the top lot in the part two section. She is eligible for the Tattersalls Ireland €300,000 Sales Race and looks an extremely exciting prospect for 2019.
