An attractive grey yearling colt by Lethal Force is offered for sale. He is trained by Devon-based Paul George, who has made the headlines with several winners at an eyecatching strike rate since taking out his licence in the summer. The yearling can be bought as a whole or in 25% shares.
The March-foaled youngster is the second produce of the Invincible Spirit mare Corncockle, who finished a close-up fifth to the multiple Grp-1 winner Rizeena on her two-year-old debut and duly won a smart Newmarket maiden on her next start. She went on to run competitively in Listed company on her next outing, in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was also placed over five-furlongs at three.
The mare is one of five winners out of the six-furlong two-year-old debutant winner Alovera, who is in turn a sibling of the Listed winner Army of Angels, the Grp-2 Lowther Stakes second Seraphina and the Listed-placed Brantwood and Alegranza. Further relations of Alovera include the Grp-1 Cheveley Park Stakes heroine Serious Attitude and the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes winner Cape Dollar.
Clearly this is a family brimming with early speed and black-type quality and, given her racing deeds, there must be every chance that Corncockle can also further its reputation now her attentions have been switched to breeding. It does not hurt that her sire Invincible Spirit is beginning to demonstrate his prowess in the broodmare sire division, his daughters producing Grade-1 Canadian international winner Desert Encounter, devastating Grade-3 UAE 2,000 Guineas winner Gold Town and Italian Grp-1 winner Sound Of Freedom in the last couple of years.
The exploits of young sire Lethal Force also give cause for encouragement. A smart two-year-old that developed sufficiently to win the Grp-2 Hungerford Stakes over seven-furlongs at three and a pair of six-furlong Grp-1s at four, his first three-year-olds have been racing this season. Inevitably he is churning out a large number of fast and precocious juveniles, his first two crops including the Grp-2 placed Konchek and the Grp-3 placed Mokaatil and Would Be King. His offspring continue to impress physically, with his Listed-placed son Lethal Steps realising 300,000gns at the Tattersalls July Mixed Sale earlier this year.
With exciting pedigree credentials on either side, this grey colt looks the sort that will provide an awful lot of fun and excitement for his new owners, in conjunction with an emerging force in the training ranks.
