From The Front Racing is delighted to offer shares in a February 2017 yearling colt by Epaulette, who was our first purchase from the Goffs UK Silver Yearling Sale this year.
We headed to the Doncaster Yearling Silver Sale at Doncaster with high hopes, having bought our very own Epona at the same sale last year. The auction has also thrown up two sales race winners this year in Ginger Nut and Red Balloons, as well as the Grp-1 Cheveley Park Stakes and Grp-2 Lowther Stakes runner-up The Mackem Bullet.
After viewing this colt in the morning he went high on our list of prospective purchases. He is a really good size, has a great stride and looks a really racy type. He is also qualified for the plus10 bonus which gives us a great chance of recouping our purchase money.
As you can see from his page he is a half-brother to six winners out of a Night Shift mare, three of whom were winners at two years. The only siblings that didn't win at two were by sires that would typically throw horses that need more time and distance (although even the Lope de Vega finished runner-up as a juvenile). Combine this with a speed-influencing sire like Epaulette, and we think our lad has a fantastic and exciting profile. He ticks all the boxes we were looking for, and we are certainly expecting him to be a fast and early type that will give us an awful lot of fun and excitement, without breaking the bank.
Epaulette was a dual Grp-1 winner in Australia and is a half-brother to fellow Grp-1 winner and exciting sire Helmet. His first northern hemisphere runners emerged only last year, but he has already produced the Grp-3 placed McMunigal, the Grp-1 fourth Guerrier and the prolific winner Rogue.
Soon this youngster will head to Nottingham to be trained out of the upwardly mobile yard of Brazilian Ivan Furtado. Ivan does a great job with his two-year-olds and is currently enjoying his best ever season, with 26 winners on the board already at the time of writing. He will shortly be moving into David Brown's old yard at Averham and we think his regime and style of training will suit our young speedball in every which way. It's great to have Ivan back on board and to add him to our growing list of top trainers.
We think we have secured plenty of value with this son of Epaulette, who offers you a chance to own an exciting prospect for next season at a very affordable price.
