'Sprint-King' Robert Cowell is set to train this attractive daughter of exciting young stallion Born To Sea, having personally recommended her at auction. She walks well, is eligible for the Plus 10 Bonus scheme and £150,000 Tattersalls Sales Race, and seems sure to make a smart two-year-old.
This January foal is out of the useful sprinter Madame Boulangere, who won three times and was rated as high as 96. A precocious juvenile, she was runner-up on debut in May, before following up shortly after at York. She went on to win the Watership Down Stud sales race at Ascot, collecting £129,000 worth of prize money in the process. She trained on very effectively at three years, and was Listed placed.
Madame Boulangere has proved a hit at stud too; she has had five winners already from eight foals to have raced. Her best offspring include the 101 rated sprinter and seven-time winner Barracuda Boy, the even more prolific Jazz Girl, who was Listed-fourth over a mile-and-a-half and the decent dual-winning juvenile Lamh Albasser.
The third dam Rainbow's End has proven to be an exceptional broodmare, with twelve of her foals being successful on the track. Her best performer was the Grd-2 winner Sign Of Hope, though she has given numerous other Black Type performers. Her daughter Elfin Laughter also inherited the ability to pass on significant talent, as she was the dam of the 111 rated Smirk. He was a Listed winner over a mile, and a close second in the Grp-2 Sandown mile.
The sire Born To Sea represents even more exalted levels of breeding. He is out of legendary Blue Hen mare Urban Sea (herself an Arc winner), so counts the likes of all-time great Sea The Stars and Derby winner turned super-sire Galileo amongst his siblings. He is a son of noted sire of sires Invincible Spirit, and was not short of ability himself. He won a Listed- contest on his racecourse debut at two-years, and went on to be runner-up in the Irish Derby the following year. He has enjoyed significant success already at stud, from just two crops to have raced, with his notable runners including Grp-3 winning juvenile and Grp-1 placed miler Sea Of Grace.
This early foal is already earmarked for a top yard, and has bundles of promise.
