Nominations are available to the Hedgeholme Stud-based stallion Mahsoob. A Group-winning son of Dansili from a superb Shadwell dynasty, his first foals are on the ground this year and he looks sure to excel at the family-run stud located in County Durham.
Mahsoob was trained by John Gosden to win on his racecourse debut at the back end of his three-year-old campaign over a mile. He stepped up to a mile and a quarter to win his first three starts as a four-year-old, including the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot. He returned to the track as a five-year-old to win the Grp-3 Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket in highly authoritative fashion.
In total Mahsoob won five of his nine starts and earned an annual Timeform rating of 120. Despite these highly meritorious achievements, there was a strong sense that he was capable of significantly more than circumstances allowed him to show.
It is this sense of unfulfilled potential which adds to his appeal as a stallion, as he has the looks and pedigree to excel in his second career. He is out of the Listed-placed Montjeu mare Mooakada, whose line traces directly back within three generations to the Grp-3 winner and 1,000 Guineas third Bint Shadayid and the 1991 1,000 Guineas heroine Shadayid.
Dansili is now firmly established as a potent sire of sires, with his sons Harbinger, Zoffany, Rail Link, Delegator, Zacinto and Strategic Prince all producing Grp-1 winners in their own right. Many of them have overcome straitened circumstances to do so, and several of them lacked the sheer natural talent of Mahsoob. Perhaps he can be the next to add his name to that illustrious list?
The impressive Mahsoob offers breeders access to quality bloodlines and a stallion of exceptional merit at a very reasonable price. Fee on application.
