Nominations remain available to the exciting young sire Koropick. A Group-winning son of the record-breaking stallion sensation Kodiac, he was transferred to the County Durham-based Hedgeholme Stud for the 2019 season where he will stand at a fee of £2,250.
Trained in Newmarket by Hugo Palmer, Koropick was a very impressive four and a half length winner on his racecourse debut at two. He was runner-up in the Grp-3 Sirenia Stakes on his next appearance, finding only The Last Lion too good, before finishing a creditable fifth to the same horse in the Grp-1 Middle Park Stakes on his final domestic outing as a juvenile.
Returned to the track at three, he achieved a career best when winning the Grp-3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle over six-furlongs, and also finished a fine second to the subsequent Grp-1 winner Battaash in the Listed Scurry Stakes.
Those efforts made a covering career an inevitability, as the clamour for sons of Kodiac to enter stud duties grows stronger year after year. The sire broke the world-record for the number of individual two-year-old winners in 2017, has provided a glut of fast and precocious top-level performers such as Tiggy Wiggy, Jash, Fairyland and Besharah, and managed to further elevate his reputation in 2018 thanks to the exploits of multiple Grp-1 winning middle distance performer Best Solution.
Few of Kodiac's sons look as well placed as Koropick to confirm his potential as a sire of sires. A high-class two-year-old, a Group-winning three-year-old sprinter - and with the looks to match. With his fee pitched at a very competitive level, he is expected to prove enormously popular in his first season at Hedgeholme.
