Sire: RIP VAN WINKLE (IRE)
Dam: SWEET SIOUX (GB)
Dam Sire: HALLING (USA)
This talented four-year-old filly is now back in full training with Brian Barr, having had a highly satisfactory first start to the season in July when running prominently after a slow start on the all-weather at Lingfield. She is expected to come on greatly for that run.
A €35,000 foal, Unsuspected Girl won two races as a three-year-old last year. Those victories came on the all-weather at Chelmsford between 10 and 16 furlongs and both occasions saw her deliver a strong finish after being held up. She was placed a further seven times including running some good races on turf.
Her sire, Rip Van Winkle, was an exceptional racehorse for Ballydoyle, taking three Gr1s between a mile and ten furlongs. Since retiring to stud, he has produced some talented performers including Dick Whittington, winner of the Gr1 Phoenix Stakes as a juvenile.
Sweet Sioux, this filly's dam, has produced three individual winners including this one. Running Deer, another of her winners, won three valuable handicaps for Henry Ponsonby, placing multiple times. She is also closely related to First Mohican, who won a Conditions Stakes at Lingfield this month, adding to his six previous wins.
A filly who was very much on an upward curve towards the end of last year, Unsuspected Girl is likely to be a force to be reckoned with on turf and the all-weather and is sure to reward prospective owners with visits to the winners' enclosure.
With an impressive pedigree, she also has exciting prospects as a broodmare when her racing career is over.
She is being sold at this bargain price ONLY to stay in the yard of Brian Barr.
