Sire: Due Diligence (USA)
Dam: Three Ducks (GB)
Dam Sire: Diktat (GB)
A sharp and precocious-looking daughter of Due Diligence is offered for sale. Already broken in and going very nicely, she is trained by Brian Barr, who operates a small but successful stable in picturesque north Dorset.
The young filly is out of the Diktat mare Three Ducks, who won over a mile on her third start as a two-year-old, and later added a handicap over the same distance. Since retiring from the track she has produced three runners, including the four-time winning seven-furlong performer Three Gracez - who reached a peak official rating of 91 - and the three-time winner Three Duchesses, who was rated 85 and stayed middle distances. Both of the winning siblings showed ability at two and then trained on at three and four, which bodes extremely well for the youngster that is for sale.
The commercial appeal of the family is evidenced by the fact that Three Ducks' 2016 son by Bated Breath realised 65,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in 2017, whilst the mare was herself a 42,000gns yearling. Three Ducks is a half-sister to the 10-furlong Listed winner and sire Thames and the mile Listed winner Three Wrens, out of a mare that produced eight winners in total. The quality of the family is such that the next dam is none other than the Arc heroine Three Troikas.
In addition, it is worth noting the record of Diktat as a broodmare sire. The former Haydock Sprint Cup and Prix Maurice de Gheest winner is perhaps best known as the sire of Dream Ahead - now an excellent young stallion in his own right - but his daughters continue to add to his legacy. His dozens of Stakes-performing grandchildren include the Grp-1 winners Speedy Boarding and Surcharge, multiple Grp-2 winner Beat The Bank, the high-class sprinter Invincible Army and 2018 Italian Derby winner Summer Festival. The sire enjoyed a tremendous year in this department in 2018, and his relevance and commercial appeal can only increase going forward.
The sire Due Diligence was a Listed winner and runner-up in the Grp-1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes when in training with Aidan O'Brien. His first crop will race in 2019, but with some of his yearlings auctioning for more than 20-times his covering fee, it is fair to say that he has made a good start to his career before a runner has set foot on the racecourse. A two-year-old debut winner himself, by sire of sires War Front, his prospects look good and he will surely provide plenty of speedy two-year-olds in the new season.
Thought likely to make an early two-year-old in 2019, this attractive filly is proving to be very feisty and racy in her work, and is blessed with a great attitude. She ticks all the boxes that you would look for in a future winner, yet is on offer at well below market value. Don't miss out on this absolute bargain!
Available as a whole for £2,950 or can be purchased in 20% shares priced at £750 each.
