AMAZING RACING have for sale a well-bred mare from a good family who should provide breeders with a cost-effective opportunity to acquire an attractive broodmare in time for an early covering.
Young Sunshine was bought by us to go racing, but after two encouraging fifth-placed finishes from only three starts, and with a bright future ahead, she was found to have sustained an injury which sadly curtailed her racing career.
Her breeding suggests that she would have good future in the paddocks, with some pleasing "Black Type" on her page. She is from a family of winners, and was the third foal produced by the dam Gara Molly. Her first two offspring were both winners, so it's a nice family to be breeding from. The first foal, Dr Phibes, won as a two-year-old before going racing abroad where he enjoyed further success.
Young Sunshine's half-sister, Molly Dolly, was also a winner, and was additionally placed in Listed and Grp 3 events in the UK and in Ireland. She won twice and was placed twice from only six starts in her debut season, including her third in a Listed Race at Ascot. The following season she raced in Ireland, where she was placed four more times, including Grp 3 events at both Fairyhouse and the Curragh, further enhancing Young Sunshine's pedigree with black type among her siblings. In the next generation, she is related to further Grp winners such as Aminata and Swift Gulliver.
Young Sunshine was sired by the Coolmore stallion Pour Moi, who commanded a stud fee of €20,000 at the time. He was a Derby winner, from the brilliant family of Lammtarra, and has sired a Derby winner himself - Wings of Eagles - so the mare seems to have all the right credentials. With a nice page herself, we think Young Sunshine represents a potential bargain for a small breeder.
