An unnamed and unraced six-year-old mare is offered for sale. She hails from an excellent NH family on the distaff side, and is by an exceptionally well-bred stallion.
The dam of this mare is The Ginger Thing, who only ran in a couple of bumpers, but makes up for any lack of confirmed racing ability with a compelling pedigree. The next dam Queveda was a winning two-year-old in France, and has subsequently produced two winners as a broodmare.
In addition, Queveda counts amongst her siblings the Listed winner and Grade-2 placed flat racer Playact (dam of the Paul Nicholls trained Grade-2 Top Novices' Hurdle winner Pierrot Lunaire), the French Listed flat winner Play Around (dam of three Stakes-performers including the Listed-placed hurdler Press The Button) and the Listed-placed Paix Royale (dam of three Stakes performers including the Listed Prix Ronde de Nuit winner Peach Pearl).
This impressive tail line is complemented by the tremendous quality of the family of the sire, Arco Felice. Although very lightly-raced on the flat and over hurdles during his own racing career, he hails from US flat racing royalty and is out of the Grade-2 Demoiselle Stakes winner and multiple Grade-1 placed Better Than Honour. She would go on to outstrip even those heady achievements as a broodmare, producing the exceptional four-time Grade-1 winner (including Kentucky Oaks) Rags To Riches, the Grade-1 Belmont Stakes winner and sire Jazil, the Grade-2 winner and Grade-1 placed sire Casino Drive, and the Breeders' Cup Marathon winner and sire Man of Iron.
The last-named is in fact a full-brother to Arco Felice, proving the impeccable quality of his credentials as a stallion, whilst the stock he has produced are very good-looking and impressive specimens. Indeed, this family is one of the most notable in the stud book, with Better Than Honour selling for a world-record $14,000,000 at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Select November Mixed Sale, whilst her progeny have auctioned for more than $500,000 nearly a dozen times.
The sale of this young mare offers a rare opportunity to buy into a quality family at a bargain basement price. She retains an awful lot of untapped potential and is sure to prove very popular. Don't miss out!
