A rare opportunity has arisen to purchase a nicely-bred broodmare and her 2018 colt foal, by Elzaam.
The mare in question, River Bounty, was a useful performer on the track. She won on her third outing over six furlongs at Haydock and later added two more victories at the same trip.
She is, in turn, out of the unraced Alhaarth mare Artistic Merit, from the family of the Listed-placed pair Gryffindor and Vicious Knight and the high-class flat/jumps performer and leading NH sire Midnight Legend.
River Bounty is by Bahamian Bounty, the damsire of Group winners Epsom Icon, Angels Will Fall and Able Speed (previously known as Prolific).
She has previously foaled progeny by Kodiac, Society Rock, Camacho and Baltic King, and she is capable of throwing a very good-looking sort that can translate into sales ring success. Her 2013 Kodiac filly made £30,000 at the Goffs Silver Yearling Sale and the Camacho colt 18,000gns at Tattersalls December Foal Sale. The latter, now named Lynchpin and in training with Jane Chapple-Hyan, promises to be a good late-season two-year-old.
This deal comes with the added sweetener of a colt foal by the exciting Australian-bred sire Elzaam. The son of noted sire of sires Redoute's Choice won on juvenile debut and later added the Listed Carnarvon Stakes to his CV, and he was Grp-2 placed and finished fourth in the Grp-1 Golden Jubilee Stakes.
His stud record since his first crop hit the track in 2016 is highly meritorious, his best runners including the Grp-2 placed Great Prospector and the Listed winner Clem Fandango. A grand imposing sort, it is not uncommon for his stock to make six figures in the sales ring.
All things considered, this looks an excellent opportunity to purchase a broodmare with a fair page and a foal with lots of potential at a very reasonable price.
