Quotation was a decent performer during her very short racing career with Sir Michael Stoute and is being sold as a broodmare by Manor House Stud. Officially rated as high as 91, she was sharp enough to be runner-up on her two-year-old debut and later on was a winner in a mile handicap.
She was bred by the Cheveley Park Stud and is therefore typically related to multiple smart animals. Her dam Eloquent ran only three times, but won on her debut and went within a short head of winning in Listed company on her second start. The next dam Lady Barrister was a prolific broodmare, foaling no less than eight winners including the Listed winning two-year-old Edipo Re.
Further back in the family it is easy to find standout quality. The third dam Jardiniere was a full sister to the Irish 2000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes winner Kings Lake, whilst another sibling Salmon Leap was a Grp-2 winner. Both of those horses went on to covering duties at stud.
Quotation is by the stallion Medicean, who was a Grp-1 winner in the Eclipse and Lockinge Stakes. As a sire he is responsible for the likes of dual Grp-1 winner turned sire Dutch Art and dual Grp-1 winning filly Nannina. As a broodmare sire his standing was significantly increased in 2017 by Grp-1 Grand Prix de Paris winner Shakeel.
Quotation is a good-looking mare with an excellent temperament. Her yearling last year made £9,000 and she is a good mother who always gets attractive foals. With fine breeding and racing ability, this mare has lots to offer potential breeders.
